About Steel Fabrication cost estimation
Most mild steel work is sold by weight. A fabricator prices the finished item per kilogram, so the figure that matters is how much steel the design actually uses — section sizes, infill spacing and frame thickness move the weight far more than the overall dimensions do.
These estimators work from measurements towards a weight, then apply a rate per kg. Fitting, primer and paint, transport and site welding are usually quoted separately, and a figure that leaves them out will read low against a real quotation.
