This page explains how TrueInstaller ("we", "us") processes personal data in line with the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and comparable privacy laws worldwide, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP) 2023, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Canada's PIPEDA, Australia's Privacy Act and Singapore's PDPA. Wherever you use TrueInstaller from, we aim to apply one consistent, GDPR-grade standard. This page supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. Who is the data controller?
TrueInstaller (operated by Global Tech Work) is the controller for personal data processed on the Platform. For engagements you enter with a Technician, that Technician is an independent controller of the data you share with them directly (for example, your site address for a visit).
2. What personal data we collect
- Account & contact data - name, email, phone number, city, and company name for business clients.
- Requirement data - the service you need, measurements, budgets and descriptions you post.
- Technician data - profile, qualification, verification documents and portfolio for professionals who register.
- Usage data - device, browser, pages visited and approximate location, via cookies and similar technologies.
- Communications - messages, reviews and support conversations on the Platform.
3. Why we process it (lawful bases)
| Purpose | Lawful basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Creating your account and connecting you with Technicians | Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Sending your requirement details to relevant verified Technicians | Contract / legitimate interests |
| Service emails - credentials, booking updates, requirement status | Contract |
| Verification of Technicians and fraud prevention | Legitimate interests / legal obligation |
| Marketing communications | Consent (opt-out any time) |
| Analytics and Platform improvement | Consent / legitimate interests |
4. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten") where no lawful reason requires retention;
- Restrict or object to processing, including direct marketing (we stop immediately);
- Portability - receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format;
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing;
- Complain to your supervisory authority - for the EU your local DPA, for the UK the ICO, for India the Data Protection Board, for California the Attorney General/CPPA.
To exercise any right, contact us via the contact page with the subject "Data request". We respond within 30 days (or sooner where local law requires) and may ask you to verify your identity first.
5. International data transfers
Our Platform serves users globally and our infrastructure may process data outside your country. Where data moves across borders from the EU/UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). For all regions, we apply the same technical and organisational safeguards described below.
6. Security and retention
- Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS); passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text.
- Access to personal data is role-restricted - Technicians see only the requirement details needed to quote.
- We retain account data while your account is active and for a limited period afterwards to meet legal, tax and dispute-resolution obligations, then delete or anonymise it.
- In the event of a personal data breach likely to result in risk to you, we notify the relevant authority within 72 hours and affected users without undue delay, as GDPR requires.
7. Cookies
We use essential cookies (login sessions, security) and, with consent where required, analytics and chat-support cookies (for example our live-chat widget). You can control cookies through your browser settings; essential cookies cannot be disabled without affecting login functionality.
8. Children
The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly process children's data; if you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
9. Automated decision-making
We do not make legally significant decisions about you by purely automated means. Matching of requirements to Technicians is based on service category and location, and a human Technician always decides whether to quote.
10. Contact & updates
Privacy questions and data requests: via the contact page (subject "Data request"). We review this page regularly and will update the date above when it changes materially.
